Caring for Torture Survivors
Free, internet-based course for individuals from a variety of backgrounds who want to learn about survivors of torture and refugee trauma. Participants will learn about the health consequences of torture, uprooting, and other human rights violations.
United Nations Convention against Torture
This was ratified by the United Nations in 1984
Istanbul Protocol
The Istanbul Protocol is the manual on the "effective investigation and documentation of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." It was submitted to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in 1999.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly in 1948. It is available in over 300 language translations.
